Terms of Use

By downloading, installing, or using the Basirah mobile application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and the operator of Basirah, an independent developer based in Canada ("we," "us," or "our").
2. About Basirah
Basirah is a mobile application that presents one of the 99 Names of Allah each day, accompanied by commentary, guided reflection prompts, and practical tasks. Its purpose is to help users not only learn the Names but embody them in daily life. Users can create a personal account to save their reflection journal entries.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account and use Basirah. By using the App, you represent that you are 13 or older. If you are under 18, you should review these Terms with a parent or guardian before using the App.
4. Your Account
To access certain features, you will need to create an account using your email address and a display name. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential, for all activity that occurs under your account, and for notifying us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
5. Acceptable Use
Basirah is a personal, non-commercial spiritual tool. By using the App, you agree that you will not use the App for any unlawful or harmful purpose, attempt to reverse engineer or decompile the App's source code, scrape or reproduce the App's content for redistribution without our written permission, attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or other users' accounts, or use the App in any way that could damage or impair its functionality.
6. Your Content — Reflection Journal Entries
Basirah allows you to write personal reflection journal entries within the App. You retain full ownership of the content you write.
By storing your reflections in the App, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and display that content solely for the purpose of providing the App's functionality to you. We will never read, share, sell, or use your personal reflections for any other purpose.
7. Our Content
All content within Basirah, including the daily Names of Allah, commentary, reflection prompts, tasks, design, and branding, is owned by us or our content licensors and is protected by copyright. You may use this content for your own personal, non-commercial spiritual practice. You may not reproduce, distribute, or publish it without our written permission.
Islamic religious texts (Quran, Hadith) quoted within the App are part of the public domain. Our original commentary, curation, and presentation remain our intellectual property.
8. Religious Disclaimer
Basirah is designed as a tool for personal spiritual growth and is not a substitute for formal Islamic scholarship, guidance from qualified scholars, or religious instruction. Nothing in the App should be taken as a religious ruling (fatwa) or official Islamic guidance. We encourage users to seek knowledge from qualified scholars and trusted Islamic institutions.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
Basirah is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, that the content will be perfectly accurate or complete, or that the App will meet your specific requirements. To the maximum extent permitted by Canadian law, we disclaim all implied warranties.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the App. Our total liability to you for any claim will not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, which for a free app is $0.00 CAD.
11. Termination
You may stop using Basirah and delete your account at any time, directly within the App. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access if we believe you have violated these Terms or if we discontinue the App. Sections 6, 7, 9, 10, and 13 survive termination.
12. Changes to the App and These Terms
We may update, modify, or discontinue any part of the App at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you within the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the province of Ontario, Canada and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario, Canada.
