Welcome to Basirah ("we," "us," or "our"). Basirah is a mobile application designed to help Muslims learn and embody the 99 Names of Allah through daily reflection, guided tasks, and personal journaling.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have over it.
By creating an account and using Basirah, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Who We Are
Basirah is operated by an independent developer based in Canada. As a Canadian company, we are subject to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.

3. Information We Collect
When you create an account and use Basirah, we collect the following:

We do not collect your location, payment information, contacts, camera, or microphone data.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to provide and improve the Basirah experience: to create and manage your account, to save and sync your reflection journal entries, to personalise your daily Name and content, to send important service notifications, and to improve app features based on aggregate usage patterns.
We will never sell your personal information to third parties. We will never use your data for advertising purposes.
5. How We Store and Protect Your Data
Your data is stored on secure servers. We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and encryption at rest to protect your information.
Your reflection journal entries are private and are only accessible to you. We do not read, analyse, or share the contents of your journal.
While we take reasonable precautions, no method of data transmission or storage is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all of your data including your email address, display name, and reflection journal entries will be permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days.
7. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share your data only in the following limited circumstances:
Service providers: We may use trusted third-party services (such as cloud hosting and authentication) that process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements.
Legal obligations: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
8. Your Rights
As a user, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct any inaccurate information, delete your account and all associated data at any time directly within the app, withdraw consent to our processing of your data, and lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe your privacy rights have been violated.

9. Children's Privacy
Basirah is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will promptly delete their information.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you within the app or by email. Your continued use of Basirah after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
